“As a painter, I use a variety of mediums: oil, acrylic, gouache, or whatever best serves the needs of the piece. I often paint on pre-worked canvases, and enjoy engaging with their history of color and mark. Through a process of layering and scraping away I find a dialogue between myself and the canvas as I ask what is to be obscured and what will be revealed. This intuitive method leads to unexpected moments and serendipitous mistakes that I welcome as gifts.”
